Arkansas Electrical License Renewal

To maintain your electrical license in Arkansas, it’s important to follow the state’s renewal requirements, which differ depending on your license type:

  • Master Electrician:

    • Renewal Options: 1, 2, or 3 years

    • Fee: $50 per year

  • Journeyman Electrician:

    • Renewal Options: 1, 2, or 3 years

    • Fee: $25 per year

Note: Licenses expire on the date shown on your license. Renew before this date to avoid extra fees.

  • Complete 8 hours of continuing education (CE) during each National Electrical Code (NEC) cycle.

  • The current NEC cycle lasts three years; be sure to complete CE hours within this timeframe.

  • Complete Continuing Education: Finish the required 8 hours of CE within the current NEC cycle.

  • Submit Renewal Application: Renew your license online via the Arkansas Department of Labor’s portal.

  • Pay Renewal Fee: Fees depend on the renewal period you choose (1, 2, or 3 years).

If you do not renew within 36 months after expiration, reinstatement requires:

  • Payment of the renewal fee.

  • A late fee equal to one year’s renewal fee plus $10 for each month since expiration.

  • Any outstanding civil penalties.

  • An additional $1,000 penalty if your license has been expired more than 36 months.
