Oklahoma Electrical License Renewal
To maintain your electrical license in Oklahoma, it’s important to follow the state’s renewal requirements:
- License Renewal Periods
All electrical licenses in Oklahoma are valid for one year and expire on the last day of the licensee’s birth month.
- Continuing Education Requirements
Electrical Contractors and Journeymen:
Complete 12 hours of continuing education (CE) every three years.
At least 6 hours must cover codes and revisions adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC).
The remaining 6 hours may include topics such as electrical circuit theory, wiring methods, grounding and bonding, transformer and motor theory, control systems, alternative energy systems, safety as defined by NFPA 70E, manufacturers’ installation of equipment or parts, the Electrical License Act, trade regulations, and other approved trade subjects.Electrical Apprentices:
Effective January 1, 2026, apprentices must complete 3 hours of CE annually before reregistering.
CE material must cover codes and revisions adopted by the OUBCC, Oklahoma electrical industry regulations, Construction Industries Board rules, electrical safety as defined by NFPA 70E, other approved trade subjects, or continuing education approved for contractors or journeymen.

Complete Continuing Education: Finish the required CE hours within the specified period.
Submit Renewal Application: Renew your license online through the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board’s website.
Pay Renewal Fee: Include the renewal fee with your application.
